Face the Future – Restoring Ecosystems Worldwide

Located in Wageningen, The Netherlands, Face the Future has ample experience in carbon forestry, dating back to the very beginning of the voluntary carbon market. We bring a unique combination of skills; from project development to monitoring as well as the marketing of carbon credits. The last two years we have been extending our expertise in other areas, such as sustainable agriculture and agroforestry.

The Face Foundation was established in 1990. In 1998, the Dutch government awarded the Face Foundation’s projects in Uganda and Malaysia as best practices for the project-based emission reduction mechanisms of the Kyoto protocol. Our projects in Uganda and Ecuador have served as official (government submitted) examples for the establishment of AIJ guidelines, what later developed into CDM.

From 2000 onwards, the Face Foundation became one of the first organisations in the world to have her projects certified and verified according to international carbon & forest protocols. This enabled the reliable quantification of the amount of carbon sequestered in forests and, at the same time, ensured the sustainability and quality of the projects.

Since 2009, we have been continuing the project activities of the former Face Foundation and aim to expand our methodologies to other ecosystems and ecosystem services. Worldwide, an area of 2 billion hectares of degraded soil is in need for restoration and protection. So please join us to further restore ecosystems worldwide.
